Privacy Policy

We wrote this in plain English. No legalese, no surprises. Here is exactly what we collect, why, and how we protect it.

Last updated: June 2026

🔐 The short version

Your data is yours. We store it securely to power your emergency profile. We never sell it, share it with advertisers, or use it for anything other than keeping you safe abroad.

PingMyPeople exists for one reason — to make sure someone can help you if something goes wrong when you're far from home. Every piece of data we collect serves that purpose directly.

📋 What we collect

Information you give us when you create your profile:

Information we collect automatically:

We do not collect your real-time location in the background. We do not use cookies for advertising. We do not have a tracking pixel.

👁 Who can see your data

Your public emergency profile — visible to anyone with your QR code or profile link. This shows only what you choose to make public through your privacy settings. By default this includes your name, emergency contacts, and basic medical info. You control what is shown.

Your designated emergency contacts — people you specifically invite can log into the contact portal to see your full profile. They can only see your information, not anyone else's. They cannot edit anything.

PingMyPeople administrators — we can see profile data for support and safety purposes. We do not access your data unless you contact us for help or there is a technical issue to resolve.

No one else. We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your data with third parties, advertisers, data brokers, or any other companies.

🏗 How we store and protect your data

Your data is stored in Supabase — a secure, SOC 2 compliant cloud database. All connections are encrypted via HTTPS. Your password (if you use email/password login) is hashed and never stored in plain text.

Row Level Security is enabled on all tables — meaning our database is configured so that users can only access their own data, even if our application code had a bug.

We use Resend to send transactional emails. We do not use email marketing platforms that retain your data for advertising purposes.

📧 Emails we send you

We only send emails that are directly related to your safety and account:

We do not send marketing emails, newsletters, or promotional content.

🗑 Your right to delete your data

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from your dashboard. Click "Delete My Account" at the bottom of your dashboard page.

When you delete your account we remove your profile, all emergency contacts, all designated contact records, and all alert history. Your login account is fully removed within 24 hours.

If you want us to manually delete your data or have questions about what we hold, email us at privacy@pingmypeople.com and we will respond within 48 hours.

🌍 International users and GDPR

If you are in the European Union or UK, you have additional rights under GDPR including the right to access, correct, port, and delete your personal data. We honor all of these rights.

Our servers are located in the United States. By using PingMyPeople you consent to your data being stored in the US. We take appropriate measures to ensure your data is protected in accordance with GDPR standards.

👶 Children's privacy

PingMyPeople is designed for adults 18 and over. Parents can create sub-profiles for minor children under their own account. We do not knowingly collect data directly from children under 13.

🔄 Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes to this privacy policy we will notify you by email and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We will never make changes that reduce your privacy rights without explicit notice.
