FAQ

Specific answers about check-ins, My People, emergency alerts, QR access, privacy, plans and Family.

Getting Started

What exactly is PingMyPeople?

PingMyPeople is a personal safety and check-in platform. Members can manually say “I’m Okay,” use SOS, maintain an emergency profile and QR code, and connect trusted contacts called My People. Paid plans add scheduled check-ins and more advanced automation. PMP helps communicate with the people you choose; it is not a 911 or emergency-response service.

Is PingMyPeople a replacement for emergency services?

No. PMP helps members communicate with trusted contacts and share authorized safety information. It does not dispatch police, fire, ambulance or other emergency services. In a life-threatening emergency, contact the appropriate local emergency service.

Check-Ins

What happens when a scheduled check-in becomes due?

PMP reminds the member first. If the member still does not check in, the system can move through late and missed-check-in stages using the member’s plan and settings. The purpose is to give the member opportunities to respond before trusted contacts are emailed and texted.

Is a missed check-in automatically treated as an emergency?

No. A missed check-in is a signal that the member did not respond as expected. It can lead to My People being contacted, but it is intentionally distinguished from an SOS or confirmed emergency.

What happens if I’m late but then tap “I’m Okay”?

Your check-in is recorded and the relevant missed-check-in incident can be resolved. People who were already involved in that escalation can receive an all-clear so they know the situation has ended.

Can I pause check-ins without disabling my emergency tools?

Yes. Pause My Check-Ins pauses routine scheduled check-ins until a chosen date or indefinitely. SOS and QR emergency access remain available while routine check-ins are paused.

What is “Change My Schedule for a While”?

Complete and Family members can temporarily use a different check-in schedule for travel, unusual work hours or another short-term change without overwriting their normal schedule.

My People

Who are “My People”?

My People are the trusted contacts you choose to receive appropriate safety notifications. Free supports one Person, Essential supports up to three, and Complete supports up to 10 My People, and Family supports up to 10 My People per protected Family member.

Do My People have to pay for PingMyPeople?

No. Emergency Contact access is free. A Person can accept an invitation and use the Emergency Contact Portal without buying a member subscription.

Can I add someone to SMS alerts without their permission?

No. A member can invite a Person, but the contact separately accepts the invitation and separately consents to SMS. The member cannot provide SMS consent on the contact’s behalf.

What can an Emergency Contact do when an alert arrives?

In the contact experience they can review permitted incident information and accept responsibility with “I’m Responding,” decline with “I Can’t Respond,” and then share updates such as “Person is safe / I’m with them,” “I can’t reach them,” or “I need additional help.” These updates help the other involved People coordinate without allowing a contact to close the member’s incident.

What happens if more than one Person receives the same alert?

PMP keeps responses associated with the same incident so trusted contacts can coordinate rather than operate from disconnected messages. Contact priority and staged escalation are available on Complete and Family.

Can I delete a Person without deleting their PMP account?

Yes. Removing My Person removes the relationship from your account. It does not delete that contact’s own PMP account or their relationships with other members.

QR Emergency Access

Does someone need the PMP app to scan my QR code?

No. A person can scan a PMP QR with a normal phone camera and open the mobile emergency page without installing the app, creating an account, logging in or paying.

What can someone see after scanning my QR?

Only information the member has authorized for the public emergency experience. Depending on the member’s settings this can include selected identifying details, emergency instructions and selected medical or emergency information.

Can a QR scanner alert My People?

Yes. The scanner can use the emergency page to send the final Alert My People action. That creates a synchronized emergency event used by the member and appropriate Emergency Contacts.

Does the QR scanner have to share their location?

No. Scanner location is optional. If they choose to share it, the location is associated with that emergency so the member’s trusted contacts have better context.

Alerts

What happens after an emergency is resolved?

The incident can be marked resolved by the member or an authorized responder. PMP records the resolution and can send an all-clear to the People involved so they know the alert is no longer active.

Privacy

Does PingMyPeople continuously track my location?

No. PMP is designed around location when it is useful for a specific safety event, not 24/7 tracking. Location permissions are separated by use, and the member controls supported sharing settings.

When can my location be shared?

Location can be associated with supported safety events when permission is available, such as an SOS or QR emergency. A QR scanner can also choose to share the location of the emergency. PMP should clearly show when location was captured for an incident.

Can I delete my own PingMyPeople account?

PMP includes account deletion controls. Because account deletion affects safety information and relationships, the interface requires an intentional confirmation before proceeding.

Plans

What is the difference between Free, Essential and Complete?

Free provides core safety tools including one My Person, manual I’m Okay, SOS and QR emergency access. Essential adds up to three My People, scheduled check-ins, reminders, missed-check-in detection and pause controls. Complete adds up to 10 My People, custom and temporary schedules, staged escalation, repeated-miss protection, contact priorities, advanced QR visibility and longer incident history.

What happens to my information if I downgrade?

PMP should not destroy safety information because you downgrade. Features above the new plan limit become inactive or require you to choose which items remain active. For example, a Complete member moving to Essential can choose which three My People remain active.

What happens when I cancel a paid plan?

Once subscription billing is live, a cancellation will remain active through the paid billing period and then the account will move to Free. Safety data is not meant to be automatically deleted simply because the subscription ends.

Family

What is included with Family?

Family includes the Complete feature set for up to six protected profiles plus a Family Dashboard, individual QR and check-in settings, child/dependent profiles, parent or guardian controls, co-organizer access, family-wide status and shared or per-member My People.
